Lady Solicitor Personal Injury Claim Lady Justice Old Bailer

Fall at Work

Mr R was working as an apprentice carpenter on a construction site in Covent Garden, London refurbishing an old building. Part of this work involved the construction of a mezzanine floor.

Unfortunately, Mr R fell between rafters to the floor below, sustaining an injury to his back.

Mr R employers had failed to comply with the Work at Height Regulations. He was not given a safety harness to wear and the crash deck which had been located under the area where Mr R had been working had been moved without his knowledge. The crash deck would not have prevented the fall but had it been present it would have prevented Mr R from falling so far and probably resulted in less severe injuries.

Liability was admitted and Mr R received £8,000 in compensation for his accident claim.
