Lady Solicitor Personal Injury Claim Lady Justice Old Bailer

Compensation for Rocking Pavement Slab Injury

Rocking Paving Slab injures London Woman

Our client was an 87 year old lady. She was walking along Thomas Street in Woolwich, South East London, when she tripped and fell due to a rocking paving slab. Naturally, our client was very shocked and upset by the incident in which she suffered a fractured arm and broken nose, along with various other soft tissue injuries.

We were retained to deal with her personal injury claim on a no win – no fee basis.

A letter of claim was sent to the local Council who denied liability for the rocking paving stone and claimed that the repair and maintenance of the pavement was the responsibility of the landlord of a neighbouring shop.

As it was not possible to negotiate a settlement with these parties Court proceedings were issued against the Council. The landlord of the adjoining property was joined in as a second Defendant

Finally an offer to settle the claim was made by the two Defendants who had agreed an apportionment of liability between themselves. The Claimant was prepared to accept the sum of £4,000.00 to settle the claim and this award was approved by the Court.
